Also (as a real fan of students' artwork) when I visited all the classes, I was blown away by the awesome artwork on display - a selection of photos is below.
A very busy and exciting end to the term. Mr Iles is on a principal's study tour, and he's missing all the fun!! As Acting Principal, I am having a 'full on' but rewarding few weeks. I am enjoying working the senior classes (who are completing the final experiments of their science topics), I am also teaching in Room 12 - statistics and Maori. What continues to make me proud though is the creativity and hard work of our learners. The Market Fair, put on by our senior students was amazing. Well done to staff and students in the senior syndicate, and thank you to our parents for supporting this initiative ( photos on facebook - I wonder if Mr Iles is checking them out, I bet he's envious!) Didn't the Juniors do well! Four times around both fields - What great little athletes we have at Parawai. Check out the results and photos on Facebook. The final afternoon - I am so glad my group was working indoors!! Our Electives Programme has finished (in a rather wet and windy way), and to celebrate all the wonderful activities that have taken place over the last six weeks, we will be having an Electives Celebration / Show and Tell. This will take place on Thursday afternoon 24th September in the school hall. All parents are warmly invited to come along and see what we have been up to. Look out for more photos and a programme on Facebook. Below are some more photos of my Pacifica Art Group's pictures. Assembly Award Winners Last but not least here are the students who were the leaders for last week's Middle Syndicate Assembly and those who won awards. Well done all of you. Which tin will win? The students in all the rooms certainly insulated their tins in a big way!!
Electives Art. This week we made prints again, but instead of sticking string or foil on our templates we cut grooves into our polystyrene tiles, so they were a bit like lino cuts. Then we rolled paint on to them and pressed them on to paper to make our prints. This created a different effect as you can see. Two students also added more detail and finished their tapa animals. Wrapping the tin cans was a two (or three man job). Rm 10 and 12 will be competing too, so please bring in your cans and materials. Who will win the insulation competition? Tapa Art. This week, students finished their tapa animals (isn't Hugo's lizard wonderful) and went on to making templates for rubbings and prints. Didn't they do a great job! Thanks again to Melissa for her invaluable help. Middle Syndicate Assembly - Wonderful art work, proud award winners, well done to the organisers of the dodgeball competition and congratulations to the "Dodgeball Champions". The koru trophy was made for Mrs Hodgson by a Parawai pupil, Chase Caie in 2008. She was saving it for something special!!
