Students in Rms 10, 11 and 12 are finding out about acids and bases and thinking about what happens when different liquids go down our storm-water drains.
Dishwashing liquid, dishwasher powder, spray and wipe, DampRid; which are acids and which are bases (alkali)? How will they affect the water quality?
They are also been researching what other pollutants get spilled into our streams, rivers, lakes and of course into the Firth of Thames.
The next step is to create posters or storm-drain pictures to spread the word and stop the pollution. Here are the students testing the liquids and some of their preliminary sketches for posters and storm-drain pictures.
